Dance and Celebration

Join us for our 2017 Detroit Dance City Festival Celebration!

At the very end of our festival, we will be hosting a gathering and performance to close out our three days of celebration of dance. Beginning with a VIP reception in the DIA’s spectacular Crystal Gallery, we will then have our international collection of dancers from as young as the dancers in our Kids Dance Camp, all the way through the professional level. This is truly a performance not to miss.

2017 Dance and Celebration Artists

Amy Morrow is a teacher, choreographer, consultant & founder of AM Arts. The TBX [ Toolbox Series ] provides professional workshops with international choreographers in Austin, Texas. TBX hosted 200+ artists through 22 residencies in partnership with The University of Texas, and Texas Performing Arts Center. Professional development includes training in Gaga, CounterTechnique®, Repertoire with Black Grace (New Zealand), Multi-media Labs with Jason Akira Somma, & Choreography Labs with Deborah Hay. AM Arts manages tours for award-winning Israeli choreographers such as Idan Sharabi & Inbal Oshman, SOL Dance Company. Her collective, The Theorists, are artist citizens who collaborate internationally to present homegrown accessible art in Austin. AM Arts hosted screenings, receptions & masterclasses for the award-winning documentary, Mr. Gaga at SXSW with the support of The Consulate General of Israel Southeast & Ballet Austin as well as the Santa Fe JFF, National Dance Institute, OKDFF, Circle Cinema, & ERJCC.

2000-2004: History of Art Licensed, Basque Country University. 2003-2007: Dance in College University Sophia Antipolis of Nice, France. PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND • Rounds out her training in Cannes, “Ecole superieure de Danse”, London “The Place”, New York “Marta Graham Contemporary School”, SNDO Amsterdam, P.A.R.T.S. and Win Vandekeybus “Última Vez” Brussels, ImpulTanz Vienna, Madrid and Barcelona.   Working as self-taught person for choreographic creation, creating her own collective “Cia Danza Ziomara Hormaetxe”. From then on, worked on creating her own artistic projects as creator and independent performer.                    My work is based in interaction in generative video, videomapping and dance. Three pieces endorse her path: 2014 “K-otica in progress”, SUPPORTS: Basque Government Creation , YOUNG CHOREOGRAPHERS Grant 2014                                 2015-2016 “Symbiosis” : SYMBIOSIS has been co-produced by the Town Hall of Gernika-Lumo in 2015 and is supported by THE BASQUE GOVERNMENT through two of their artist programs such as JÓVENES COREÓGRAFOS (Young Choreographers) 2015, and Basque Government Production Grant 2015.                                 2016-2017 “Biopiracy” :  SUPPORTS: Basque Government Production Grant and Co-Production Gernika-Lumo town hall.                                 Combines her work as performer and choreographer with her duties as a teacher, giving lessons and contemporary dance studios at a national and international level.

ARTLAB J Dance is about exploring humanity's fundamental nature with honesty by observing the change of movement through the performance in pure state of mind. Moreover, through dance, ARTLAB J searches for the diversity of individuals and what one desires to achieve. Overall, they like to see the growth and development of human natureand perform the process in theirwork and theystrives to find the positives of our society’s behavior and emotion.
